Vessels

BVO fishing is the proud owner of two amazing offshore fishing vessels. Most offshore trips will utilize “Jim Buoy”, a 47 foot Custom Carolina Sportfish Yacht, built by multi-generational yacht builder Bobby Sullivan and finished by Phil Jones of Maryland. Powered by twin Caterpillar C 12 Diesel turbocharged engines, the vessel cruises at a fast and steady 28 knot cruise. Having been built by legendary yacht builders from North Carolina, the ride on the vessel is the softest and smoothest you will find. Custom Carolina boats are built to handle the most perilous nautical conditions that our country has to offer, and “Jim Buoy” is a perfect example of how well these boats shine down here in Florida where our conditions tend to be a little more inviting than the Carolina Coastline. “Jim Buoy” has all of the accommodations you would expect on a modern day Sportfishing yacht, including an air conditioned helm area, and cabin, a private head with vacuum flush toilet, ice machine, freezer, fighting chair, and bean bag chairs for those long rides to the fishing grounds. Equipped with 950 gallons of fuel, nothing is out of range or too far. Captain Jimmy goes on to elaborate on his excitement for the new boat...

“I picked the boat up in Maryland, 90 miles up the Chesapeake, and made our way down to Rudee Inlet, VA. The first few days of fishing on “Jim Buoy” out of Rudee Inlet, VA Beach consistently produced a healthy yellowfin tuna bite. We brought home lots of meat each trip and got a good feel for how the vessel operates. I had just gotten a new puppy named Buoy who did the trip with me, and as an ode to our relationship, the name "Jim Buoy" was born. The Caterpillar C12 diesels produce a hum and tune that is sure to raise plenty of fish, and we plan to continue offering that experience to clients in Florida. We have been fine tuning the boat for months now and feel like we have the tools to give you a first class fishing experience."

BVO fishing also owns a 31 foot Stamas center console, powered by twin Yamaha 300hp engines, named "Voodoo Baby". As we use this boat for our inshore trips, BVO provides clients one of the largest and most comfortable boats for inshore trips that you will find. A custom helm seat and bean bag chairs are sure to have you riding in comfort. This vessel is also used offshore on calm days or when customers are hoping to budget their trip a little more, as we burn less fuel than we do on"Jim Buoy". Our center console is rigged for any type and every type of fishing trip. With a 400 gallon fuel tank, nothing is off limits. Electric reel outlets allow us to deep drop for swordfish and pull more lures while trolling for wahoo. The 72 mile open array radar helps us find birds, and the Garmin chirp transducer and sonar helps us find the bait. An oversized t-top provides ample shade from the Florida sun.

We are grateful to be able to provide clients with a luxury first class fishing experience no matter which vessel you choose.

GEAR

Inshore fishing trips will utilize choice spinning tackle to ensure a high landing rate. Captain Jimmy uses shimano baitrunner and  Penn spinfisher reels. Rods made by Shimano, Crowder,  St. Croix, and Penn will be used depending upon the application. All terminal tackle will be the best quality available. Captain Jimmy does not like to lose fish due to old, cheap, or damaged tackle.

Offshore fishing trips will utilize Penn International reels for trolling. Penn Senator and Avet reels are used for bottom fishing. Penn spinfishers are the spinning reel of choice for all reef and wreck trips at BVO. All rods are inspected every trip to make sure there is no damage or obstructions. Braided and monofilament lines are updated regularly and checked before every single trip.
